Spikenard was cultivated in the Indian and Nepalese highlands throughout Bible times. It was then transported to India's Malabar coast and sailed up to Red Sea ports. It would then be transported to Alexandria by camel train for export. When Mary poured it on the head of Jesus, the price was surprising to some.
The Holy Land, where Jesus traveled, produces this anointing oil. These ingredients are mixed with Frankincense, Myrrh, Biblical florals, and Holy Land plant essence using natural, pure Galilee and Jerusalem virgin olive oils.
Then Mary took about a pint of expensive perfume, made of pure spikenard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped them with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
